Remembering Those We Lost

In honor of today marking the 18th anniversary since the tragic events on 9/11, I wanted to share a few special episodes. Take a moment to remember those we lost.

  • Ed Mylett Show: Robert O’Neill — The Man Who Killed Bin Laden. Wow. I had goosebumps throughout most of this episode. The courage, grit, and teamwork O’Neill talks about is incredible. Guys who dove on people they thought were suicide bombers to absorb most of the bomb and protect the guys they served with. Guys napping on the helicopter ride to Bin Laden’s compound. O’Neill tells the story of the night his team killed Osama Bin Laden, and it is truly worth every second. Of note — O’Neill co-founded Your Grateful Nation, which provides individualized transition support for Special Operations heroes and their families. They provide executive-level mentoring, transition services, and family stabilization support. [June 19, 2018–1 hour, 3 minutesiTunes Podcast | Overcast | Spotify |Stitcher | Website Link

  • Without Fail: The Tragedy Expert. When Congress created the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, they needed someone to determine who should receive money and how much. Kenneth Feinberg took on the job, listened to people’s heart-breaking stories, and had to make impossible decisions. The man is a true hero and you can’t help but be humbled while listening to him. • Crazy Good Turns: S01 Episode 4: Tunnel to Towers. After the attacks on the World Trade Centers, one firefighter walked three miles from the Brooklyn Tunnel to the World Trade Center. He passed away that day, and his family started a foundation that now has an annual event of the run that their son took that day. Last year, 30,000 people from 30 countries participated. Benefits go to soldiers like one they talk to in this episode — someone who served overseas and is a triple amputee. The organization built a smart house for him.
